Finding Fortune
by Rich Wulf & Shawn Carman
Peace has returned to the Celestial Heavens. Fu Leng has been returned to his rightful
place in the depths of Jigoku, and balance has returned to the universe, at
least for a time. But balance is a frail thing indeed, and cannot exist unless
maintained. Following Fu Leng’s invasion of Tengoku, many once mighty and
powerful divine entities now lay dead. The time has come for new Fortunes to
rise up to protect the Celestial Heavens. The gods of Rokugan turn their eyes
toward mortals, hoping to find one who has proven worthy.
The faction played by the winner of this tournament shall gain the attention of
the heavens. One member of that clan will be selected to become an eternal
Fortune, a mortal who has gained divinity. Though this Fortune will leave the
mortal realm, he or she will continue to look out for their clan’s interests in
Rokugan.
The player who wins this tournament may select a personality to become a
Fortune. If the Ratlings should win this tournament, then a Nezumi will become
a Fortune for the first time in history. If the Shadowlands should win this
tournament, then Fu Leng will maintain a small foothold in the Celestial
Heavens – a Shadowlands personality will somehow coerce the Fortunes into owing
him a favor, and a corrupted Fortune will ascend into Tengoku.
In all cases the character selected will be left in the winner’s hands. The
choice may be any personality who survived the Gold story arc. A primary choice
and two alternate choices should be selected, as not every character can so
easily step away from their responsibilities in the Empire. Currently surviving
Clan Champions will not be considered.
